Smart QR Scanner is a QR & barcode scanner app designed to run locally on your device. This policy explains what is processed, what is not, and how ads work.
1. Controller
PikScan (publisher of Smart QR Scanner). Contact: support@pikscan.com. Website: smartqr.pikscan.com.
2. No account, no PikScan cloud
- Smart QR Scanner does not create a PikScan user account.
- Your scans and created QR codes are stored on your phone (app local storage).
- PikScan does not receive the content of your history and does not run a sync cloud for Smart QR Scanner.
3. Data processed on device
On your device only, the app may store:
- scanned code payloads and created QR content;
- metadata (favorites, dates, code type);
- preferences (language, biometric lock if enabled).
Scanning uses on-device engines (including Google ML Kit). Decoding runs locally.
4. Permissions
- Camera: to scan QR codes and barcodes.
- Storage / files: to export images as allowed by the OS.
- Biometrics (optional): if you enable the app lock.
- Internet: for AdMob ads and optional app version checks.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Smart QR Scanner is free and funded by ads via Google AdMob (banners, occasional interstitials).
Google may process advertising IDs and technical data under Google’s policies. You can limit ad personalization in Android settings.
Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
6. App updates
The app may request a public version JSON on smartqr.pikscan.com to suggest updates. That request does not include your history contents.
7. Sharing you initiate
When you export or share a QR image or text, the file leaves the app through Android’s share sheet. That is under your control.
8. Retention and deletion
Local data remains until you delete it in-app or uninstall. Uninstalling Smart QR Scanner typically removes app data from the device.
9. Children
The app is not directed to children under 16 (or the applicable digital age of consent).
10. Your rights
Because PikScan does not hold your history, access/erasure mainly concerns data on your device and ad processing by Google. Questions: support@pikscan.com.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date above is authoritative. Continued use after posting means you acknowledge material changes described here.
